7 Seconds Or less

Quick hitter ran last year in College basketball. Guards switching sides of the court confused defensive rotations and help side responsibilities.

7 Seconds Or Less

We ran this quite a bit last year as an entry into our dribble drive offense. Very simple play that can flow into 3 or 4 out offense. Didn't score a lot of the ball screen but helped open up court for penetration. Several College teams are running something similar to this but keeping 1 player as a ball screener throughout the play.

7 Seconds Or Less

ECU Fast Break

I have already shared several drills from ECU's Womens Basketball program. I was lucky enough to listen to Heather Macy at the Nike Dells Clinic this past spring and have been excited to add this drill that I watched her share. We love to fast break and feel that you have to practice that style everyday to be affective at it. I think we can add this drill to our fast break routine to get even more results and to change up practice.

Butler 131

3rd Play In 7 Seconds or Less
Easy to run quick hitter to get ball into post. Found this one looking through some Brad Stevens notes. He has a ton of great quick hitters and has a lot of free stuff available online. If you are looking for any of his notes let me know and I will send them to you. bmoore@plano88.org

Give and Go

2nd Play of 7 Seconds or less series. We ran this play several times this summer and I had very little confidence that it would work. Scored 3 baskets off it going right back to the wing.

7 Seconds Or less

One thing I have been studying this year is the 7 seconds or less offense. Not only did I read dozens of articles and publications on the this style of play, but looked at all of my plays that would fit this style of offense. I'm going to start posting this style of play but would also love to see anything you have to share. Overall I'm looking for plays that are easy to run and develop very quickly. The goal of the offense is a good shot within 7 seconds so nothing too complicated.

Defensive Scramble Drill

Here is a drill that we have done in practice to work on getting a stop even when the man on the ball has been beat. Forces players to help early and simulates game situations and rotations that are key to any defense.

I've posted a lot of shell drills on here in the past and one thing I have tried to add after reading a lot of College coaching notes is early help on the drive. In today's game more and more teams are putting the ball on the ground and driving to the basket. One thing we have added to our shells drills is a simple thing we call burn. While players are passing the ball around in your typical shell drill a coach yells burn and offensive player drives hard while his defender has to touch nearest sideline or baseline before getting back into the play.

Communication Drill

Here is a drill that forces players to communicate and match up quickly.
Pretty simple drill and can be used to work on a lot of different things for your defense.
